OOCYSTS A SOURCE OF GROUNDWATER CONTAMINATION IN HAITI
Cryptosporidium is a protozoan parasite, an extremely dangerous micro-organism, the infected individual presents signs of dehydration, stomach cramps and also diarrhea which can be either mild or severe.
This study, carried out in the town of Les Cayes, shows that due to the topography of this town, existing latrines are easily in contact with groundwater, and that cryptosporidium is transmitted in excrement by humans and other animals in the form of an oocyst.
